2019 Nominations

General Information:

Serving on the NTCRA Board is a demanding, yet rewarding and enjoyable experience. It will broaden your knowledge and increase your recycling professional network, while providing support to the recycling industry in North Texas.

Board Eligibility: Before becoming a full voting member of the Board of Directors, NTCRA requires previous participation in NTCRA events and committees, or participation in closely related organizations associated with NTCRA. In most cases, a potential board nominee will be required to observe and participate in board meetings as a trainee, and/or committee member, for one full year prior to becoming a Board Director. Members of the Board of Directors must remain in good standing with NTCRA for the duration of their term.

Time Commitment: The term of an NTRCA Board Director is two-years. A second and third term may be served with full board consent. After six years (three consecutive board terms), the Board Director must step down for two years before his/her name may be placed in nomination again. The NTCRA Board of Directors meets on the second Wednesday of every month, from 11:30-1:00 pm. Location of meetings varies. During April and one other month, conference calls will be held in place of face-to-face meetings. Board Directors and trainees are expected to attend each meeting. If a Board Director or trainee cannot attend a regular monthly meeting, the President of the Board must be notified ahead-of-time. Excessive absenteeism will result in removal from the Board of Directors.

Participation: In addition to Board meetings, the NTCRA hosts multiple functions throughout the year. Attendance at all of the events is not required; but participation and contributions towards at least two major NTCRA events is expected each calendar year. Generally, there are two after-hours networking events; two luncheons (the Degrees of Recycling Forum, and the Annual gR³reen Awards Banquet); the General Membership Meeting; the Eco-Bus Tour and the Golf Fundraiser. The NTCRA may also participate in other special events related to environmental and recycling issues, often with a booth, and occasionally as presenters. NTCRA Board of Directors and trainees are also expected to attend the December Board Retreat and the Mid-Year Board Retreat in July. Each Board Director is expected to recruit new members, solicit sponsorships and promote NTCRA events.

Board Representation: The NTCRA represents a diverse array of businesses, recyclers and municipalities, and therefore seeks to keep the representation of these companies on the Board of Directors well distributed.

The Board of Directors may include any NTCRA membership level including corporate, student/individual/retiree, government, or non-profit.

In order to be considered for nomination, applicant and/or applicant's organization must be an NTCRA member in good standing.
