On the heels of heightened recycling contamination standards, single-use plastic reduction efforts, and overall pushes for sustainable social and business practices, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) launches SWANApalooza 2019, the premier technical gathering for professionals to explore environmental solutions for integrated solid waste management, coming to Boston, Massachusetts from February 25–28.
Its first time held in New England, SWANApalooza will focus on “Building the Future,” offering an inaugural view of the future of solid waste management through the lens of public sector entities, private companies, and consultants in the area. Boston offers a premier backdrop for the event, leading the charge in zero waste initiatives and serving as an example for cities in the Northeast and across the country for environmental priorities.
At SWANApalooza, explore opportunities for domestic recycling, marine litter initiatives, landfill technical operations, and safety best practices with experts, government officials and top professionals from a range of industry areas. Gain entirely new perspectives, embrace industry progress, and discover the future of solid waste and recycling at SWANApalooza in Boston!

Mission & Vision
Mission:EarthX is an international environmental nonprofit connecting a global community to create a sustainable world for all life and future generations.
Vision:Be the leading global connector and environmental forum to positively impact our world for a sustainable future
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on environmental education and awareness, EarthX has created the world’s largest environmental experience for sharing the latest initiatives, discoveries, research, innovations, policies, and corporate practices that are reshaping our world.
The EarthX three-day annual event is held in April to celebrate progress, hope, and innovation and has become the largest event in the world of its kind. EarthX brings together environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, government agencies, speakers, interactive programming, and subject matter experts along with live music, art and food. EarthX creates a fun and engaging atmosphere for thought and experiential learning.
What started in 2011 as an outdoor event spanning five blocks in Dallas’ Arts District grew to occupy approximately 500,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space in Dallas’ historic Fair Park.
When a local environmental issue came up with a utility company applying for permits to build numerous coal-burning plants,a group of business people in Dallas stood up and opposed the utility company and Trammell S. Crow joined that effort. He discovered there were Texans who were willing to oppose the establishment and stand up for the environment. Crow says, “That battle was eventually won, but it was won by business, not protesting.”
After winning that battle, the idea for an Earth Day expo was founded by Crow to create environmental awareness and give the general public ways to make changes in their everyday lives.
The expo has grown to allow businesses, government agencies and nonprofits an opportunity to show their initiatives and their positive impact on the environment.
In 2018, EarthX hosted more than 137,000 attendees, over 600 exhibitors and 400 speakers, becoming the largest annual environmental exposition and programming initiative in the world.
While many of the EarthX efforts are centered on the three-day event in April, numerous year-round events are being launched to generate additional awareness and inspire people to get involved and help make a difference.
EarthX continues to present attendees and participants with breakthrough solutions and fascinating innovations that will empower them to make a difference in their communities and the world – 365 days a year.
